I’ve been practicing yoga since my early 20s, using VHS tapes in my parents’ home. My first in-person yoga class was in a boardroom with Ottawa-based yogi, Sylvie Gouin. From there, my love for yoga grew, trying various styles throughout the years. Yoga has supported me during and after my pregnancies and throughout various stages of life. The beauty of yoga is that while my approach changes, but the practice continues to grow with me.
I’m a certified yoga teacher (RYTT200). Currently, I teach a regular Yin+ class at MountainGoat Yoga in Ottawa (Barrhaven area) on Sundays at noon. The “+” in Yin+ means that every week I add in something special ranging from breath work, focus on props, anything really to make the class different each week. I also fill in when needed, teaching yin, hatha, restorative, soma, and chair, so check the studio schedule regularly. I also occasionally offer workshops.
In addition to yoga I’m also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN). I no longer offer services, but I always enjoy talking about food. I’m interested in people’s relationship with food—physical and emotional—and the reasons why we eat they way we do.
